Perhaps you work at home and the silence of your home doesn’t allow you to be as creative as you like. Coffitivity has a free app for your Mac computer that plays real sounds from a coffee house. The sounds are background noises and are supposed to help keep a better workflow and juices going. The app is accessible on the top menu bar where users can adjust the type of noise, volume control, and silencing. Users can select from three tracks of ambient noise: morning murmur, lunchtime lounge, and university undertones. If you want to be mobile, the app is also available on your iPhone/iPad or Anroid phone. Coffitivity makes you feel like you are sitting at Starbucks surrounded by people while being able to get work done.

Are you easily distracted from calendar alerts, emails, and iMessages? Hush, also from the creators of Coffitivity, have created an app that can turn off your notifications on your Mac computer. Hush allows users to set a timer that will turn off notifications. As soon as the timer goes off, all notifications are turned back on. Emails and calendar alerts will resume. Users can also manually turn on and off notifications. The app is easily accessible on the top menu bar. Hush lets you get work done with fewer distractions.

I encourage you to try these apps and let me know what you think. I’d love to hear if Coffitivity helped you stay on task or if it was another distraction.
