How often have you gone back and forth with emails about getting feedback on a project? The conversations can seem to go on forever especially when communication is not always clear. This can be especially frustrating for designers working with Photoshop files. What if you could collaborate and discuss feedback online without using email? What if you could leave comments directly on the design without having to download the image?
Marqueed is a free collaboration tool for you to share images over the web. The online application aims to simplify how we discuss and collaborate visual projects. You can discuss the images directly in your browser. No need to download any software. No need to download any photos. You can use Marqueed to share web designs with a client, touch up photos, landscaping, home décor, or floor plans. The possibilities are endless!
Signing up with Marqueed is quick and painless. You simply need to enter your first and last name, password and an email address. You may also choose to signup with Facebook or a Google account.
After you have created an account, you are taken to the home page which displays albums or what Marqueed calls, collections. This page displays all your projects. However, since you are new to Marqueed you will have to create a new collection to begin. By default, your first two collections will be set as private. After your first two collections, all others will be set as public (unless you sign up for a pro plan). On this page you may select those individuals you wish to invite to view your collections.

Collections home: Here is where you will create and access your projects. You can also invite people to view your collections.
Once you have created a collection you can begin adding images. To add images to your collection you can do so by dragging and dropping from your computer. You may also upload images from your Google Drive or Dropbox account. Marqueed supports JPG, PNG, GIF, PDF, and PSD files. You can also invite people as you continue to upload images. Everyone invited can leave comments on the images in your collection.
To leave comments, select the image in the collection you would like to annotate. You can add your comments on the right-hand side of the image or by using one of the freehand drawling tools in the toolbar. The drawing tool functions like a pen and pencil. You can make comments anywhere you’ve drawn on the image. You can also add a comment by dragging and highlighting the area of the image using the marquee tool. This will create a rectangle around the selected content and you can make annotations. Marqueed allows users to be notified by email whenever someone adds a comment. However, all comments can be viewed in the live activity stream if you decide to turn off your email notifications.
Another practical feature Marqueed offers is a bookmarklet for your web browser. How does it work? Click the “Marq it” in your browser’s toolbar and the bookmarklet works by scanning the current website for any images. You are then given the option to save any of images from the page to add to your collections.
Marqueed is not a project management program. However, Marqueed does integrate with Basecamp and Asana for those utilizing project management software. You can easily add a task into Basecamp or Asana with Marqueed.
The free plan allows users to have 2 private collections with 100MB of storage. However, Marqueed does offer Pro Plans for those that need more space and additional private collections. All plans offer SSL security and unlimited collaborators with the option to cancel their account at any time.
